A FEW MORE ACHIEVEMENTS 2018-2026
- kept Holy Family CES as a Board asset by leasing it in the interim until needed to address future growth
- ensured that resources are in place for the new kindergarten program starting September 2026
- increased the number of mental health professionals available to support our students and served as a member of the Mental Health Advisory Committee.
- ensured the Accommodation Request to the Ministry of Education included a new school for Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, which is approved and expected to open in 2030.
- advocated for more special education staff and served on the Special Education Advisory Committee
- supported the budget to implement a math strategy to improve math scores in our schools as per the Multi-Year Strategic Plan
- allocated budget for resources to support new math curriculum across the elementary panel
- expanded our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation by replacing the traditional Grade 11 English credit with a new grade 11 English course: "Understanding Contemporary Indigenous Voices"
- supported the implementation of the new and more comprehensive Religious Education and Family Life Program approved by the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario. Allocated budget for Growing in Faith, Growing in Christ digital and print resources up to grade 8 and secondary resources up to grade 10.
- supported the HPA program at Holy Cross Catholic Academy by partnering with Woodbridge Sports Dome to open the artificial turf Sports Dome and hard courts. In addition to the Holy Cross students, community members, and local athletic teams that share this space, it is used by the elementary athletic association for volleyball and basketball Board Championships.
- endorsed the successful student-led Menstrual Hygiene Pilot Program at St. Elizabeth CHS to give students FREE access to period products ahead of the provincial program.
- supported the transformation of elementary and secondary school libraries to modern Learning Commons.
- implemented system-wide upgrades to improve ventilation in all schools including the installation of high-grade Merv 13 filters in all air handling systems and added 3000+ standalone HEPA filter units, one for every classroom.
- added convenience for parents by introducing School-Day online cashless system.
- facilitated elementary conversion of empty classrooms into chapels
