About Jennifer

As a Catholic wife and mother of three YCDSB graduates, Jennifer Wigston has long been an active participant in the home, school, and parish relationship that lies at the heart of Catholic education.

In 2018 and 2022, Jennifer was elected Catholic School Trustee. She is honoured to represent the students, families, and Catholic ratepayers of Vaughan Wards 3, 4 & 5. Her colleagues have elected her to leadership roles, and she currently serves as Vice-Chair of the York Catholic District School Board and Vice-President of the Ontario Catholic School Trustees Association. 

A dedicated advocate for publicly funded Catholic education, Jennifer brings governance experience at both the local and provincial levels. She has served on numerous Board committees and has been actively involved in local and provincial bargaining, policy development, and advocacy initiatives.

Jennifer’s commitment to Catholic education began at the school level while her three children were in elementary school. As a volunteer and later Chair of the Catholic School Council, she championed initiatives that strengthened the connection between home, school, and parish, including programs supporting student well-being and addressing food insecurity.

Her commitment to faith formation has also been expressed through years of service as a parish catechist and as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at St. André Bessette Parish.

Beyond Catholic education, Jennifer is deeply committed to serving her community. She supports initiatives such as Vaughan in Motion for Cancer Care, serves on the Board of Directors of 360°Kids, supporting vulnerable youth, and has participated in international mission trips with the Samaritan Foundation, helping to build homes and support families in need.

For Jennifer, Catholic education is about more than governance—it is about faith, service, community, and ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive.
